Roberto Tropenscovino, classe 1954, lecchese di nascita ma di origini napoletane, è uno degli avvocati più importanti d’Italia, con l’amore per l’arte, passione condivisa con la moglie, Daniela Padelli. Passione che ha portato all’apertura di una Galleria d’arte, “Spazio D”, così denominata perché la pianta di questo locale disegna esattamente una D, uno spazio polifunzionale e dedicato all’arte.
“Amo molto la pittura del ‘900. Per me e mia moglie è stato talmente bello ed importante poter condividere una passione insieme che abbiamo aperto una Galleria a Lecco, che si chiama “Spazio D”, dove ci si ritrova con molti artisti a livello nazionale, per scambiare idee, fare programmi, mostre, visite guidate e poter raggiungere determinati obiettivi”.
Come e quando è nata la scelta di studiare legge, cosa che poi ha portato a diventare tra gli avvocati più stimati ed importanti d’Italia?
“Innanzitutto, ringrazio per il complimento. Tutto è nato da bambino, in vacanza ad Ischia con i miei genitori, guardavo il famoso telefilm Perry Mason. Proprio allora mi innamorai di questo avvocato perché risolveva i suoi casi sul campo e non dietro una scrivania. Quindi, da quel momento, mi ripromisi che sarei diventato come Perry Mason. Per riuscire ad emergere in questo lavoro, come in tutti del resto, ci vuole tanta passione, impegno, costanza e tenacia. Infatti, un mese fa a Napoli, mi ha gratificato ed emozionato molto ricevere una targa con scritto “per la sua tenacia nella lotta contro la mafia”. Quel momento è stato, per me, uno dei più importanti, in assoluto, sia a livello professionale che personale. Inoltre, io nasco professionalmente anche nell’ambito calcistico, perché ho seguito per 15 anni i giocatori del Milan, dal 1990 al 2005. Dico sempre che per me è come se avessi vinto la Coppa dei Campioni. Per anni, a livello lavorativo, ho tifato Milan ma il mio cuore è azzurro perché da sempre tifo Napoli”.
Come e quando nasce l’amore per Capri?
“È un po’ un controsenso. Da bambino vivevo di più Ischia, dato che mio padre ne era innamorato. Però, io alla fine ho sposato Capri, perché amo i posti piccoli e tranquilli, dove tutto si può gestire senza l’utilizzo dell’autovettura. Capri, oltre alle sue bellezze naturali, è consona a questi presupposti. Avendo casa ad Anacapri, vivo l’isola tutto l’anno, tra l’altro seguendo delle udienze anche a Napoli, ne approfitto, con piacere, a frequentarla anche d’inverno”.
Quando è a Capri, cosa ama fare?
“Amo molto camminare, mi aiuta a liberare la mente dai pensieri quotidiani, e quando sono a Capri posso farlo liberamente. Soprattutto di mattina, mi piace andare alla Migliera, in quanto la trovo una strada molto bella, silenziosa e mi permette di contemplare la natura e scaricare lo stress”.
Qual è il posto preferito di Capri?
“Il posto che preferisco di Capri è il Faro. Amo molto il tramonto e, dal Faro, vedere il sole che muore dietro Ischia è qualcosa di unico e meraviglioso. Insomma Capri ha un posto speciale nel mio cuore, mi trasmette serenità e tranquillità”.

A passion that led to the opening of an art Gallery “Spazio D”, so named because the diagram of the building form precisely a D, a multi-purpose space dedicated to art.
“I love twentieth century painting. For my wife and me, sharing this passion together was so beautiful and important that we opened a Gallery in Lecco, called ‘Spazio D’, where we can meet several Italian artists, share ideas, plan exhibitions, guided tours, and reach our goals”.
How and when did you decide to study Law, what led you to become one of Italy’s most renowned and important lawyers?
“First of all, thanks for the compliment. Everything began when I was a child. I was on vacation in Ischia with my parents, I was watching the famous TV series Perry Mason. It was in that moment that I was captivated by this lawyer because he solved his cases on the field and not behind a desk. So, from that moment, I decided I would become just like Perry Mason. To stand out in this job, as in every job, you need a lot of passion, commitment, perseverance and strength. Indeed, last month in Naples, I was honored and touched to receive a plate with the writing ‘for your strength in the fight against the mafia’. For me, that was one of the most important moments of my life, on both professional and personal level. I also grew professionally in the football field, since I followed for fifteen years the players of Milan, from 1990 to 2005. I always say that it’s like I won the European Cup. Because of my work, for years I’ve supported Milan, but my heart is blue, because I’ve always rooted for Napoli”.
Can you tell us about your love for Capri?
“It is a bit of a contradiction. When I was a child, I used to spend more in Ischia, as my father was deeply in love with the place. However, in the end I married Capri, because I love smaller, quieter locations, where every place can be reached without using a car. Capri, other than its natural beauties, lives on this premise. Having a house in Anacapri, I experience the island all year-long. As a matter of fact, since I also attend hearings in Naples, I gladly take advantage of the situation to spend some time on the island during winter as well”.
How do you spend your free time in Capri?
“I love taking walks, it helps me free the mind from everyday thoughts, and when I’m in Capri, I can do it freely. Especially in the morning, I like going to the Migliera, as I find it a beautiful, quiet path, that allows me to contemplate nature and relieve stress”.
What is your favorite place in Capri?
“My favorite place is the Lighthouse. I love the sunset and admiring the sun going down behind Ischia from the Lighthouse is a unique and wonderful experience. Capri has a special place in my heart, it transmits me peace and tranquility”.
